The Production Process
This chart shows a ‘typical’ production cycle for a print journal. Of course, each journal has its own process and may eliminate your involvement in some of these steps or include you in steps not listed here. When your paper is accepted, ask your editor for a timeline specific to your paper.

Copyeditor
The Copyeditor makes revisions and suggestions to match the paper to the official journal style and raises any questions or comments regarding content, sources and features.
Production
The Production stage involves turning the manuscript into part of the journal-typesetting and layout, creating any art/graphics that accompany the paper, and inserting the paper into the issue. This stage may be a bit different for digital publications in contrast with print, but the principles remain the same: The paper must be formatted and made part of the journal.
Proofreading
Most journals ask that authors assist with proofreading their papers prior to publication. This is your last chance to catch errors, so proofread carefully!
