Part I: Research & Preparation

The Secret to Sanity

KISS: Keep It Simple; Streamline!

One of the hardest parts of developing a publishing track record is the amount of time it can take. You probably command a full schedule of research, teaching, conferences, professional development and reading. You may find it challenging to make the time to query journals, prepare articles, respond to reviewer comments, and complete the publication process. And then do it again and again, for each publication.

The trick to retaining your sanity while you establish your publishing career is to keep it simple; streamline. Remember that writing is not an ‘add-on’ to your research -- it’s an integral part.

You can train yourself to start seeing the publication potential in everything you do – a poster session, a conference presentation, a new class you develop, even chapters from or updates to your dissertation.
